It's 11:24pm on tax day and I just had to file my own taxes after being ghosted by my "tax pro" Jeanetta Johnson. During the last several weeks, Ms. Johnson missed multiple scheduled meetings, didn't respond to a single message left on H&R's internal system or via email. When she did try to contact me, it was during inconvenient times where I was unable to answer the phone. When I called her back, I found myself speaking with an automated system. I finally went in person after a missed video meeting to meet Ms. Johnson in person. She was rude, short, condescending and generally unpleasant. She was helpful, but went back to ghosting me shortly after. I will never ever use H&R Block again. And should you decide to do so, I would advise avoiding Jeanetta Johnson at all costs.

Would give 0 stars if that were possible! I had my taxes done and discovered when I got home looking over my paperwork that the H&R Block agent had made a mistake. I called immediately and could not get an appointment until a week later. Another agent looked over my taxes, agreed that there was a mistake and filed an Amendment. It has been to date 22 weeks since the Amendment was filed and I still don't have my refund. I had to pay $204.00 for my initial appointment and even though the mistake was theirs I could not get my money back!

I have worked with H&R Block for years but cannot under any circumstances recommend this location. Staff was rude and unprofessional. I was talked down to and my questions were dismissed or met with annoyed half answers. I regret not waiting the three weeks to get in at my usual location.

After 7 years of doing my own taxes I decided to try out H&R Block. The gentlemen that worked with me was very friendly and helpful but unfortunately I was told the cost was nearly $500. This is 3x what I usually pay and what the multimillionaire friends I know pay. Shame on this company for charging this insane amount of money on a basic tax return that took less then 45 minutes to prepare. It appears they charge by the number of forms and therefore no doubt this places a lot of financial burden on individuals that receive financial assistance and therefore more tax forms to file . I don’t mind paying taxes but it is unfortunate this this company like other tax preparation corporations continue to lobby any sensible tax reform that would allow the average American to navigate taxes independently and not through some third party who’s only interested is their bottom line. I recommend that in this bogus system if you must do so work with a local independent tax preparer.

Mrs. Shepherd is a excellent professional, helped me a lot, has a lot of tax knowledge and also knows a lot about tax for non-Americans. Also, very friendly and kind. I look forward to Mrs. Theo Shepherd help next year.
