First of all, I miss Mr. K. He was the best. I've been coming to this location since 2019 and have NEVER had to chase down the status of my taxes until now. Ms. Vickie is very knowledgeable and friendly but was overwhelmed with the amount of work. Ms. Vickie gets 4 stars. Additional tax professionals may be needed in this location. The one star (really should be no stars) is for the receptionist, Carolyn, who was not answering the phone for several hours on 4/15; did not relay the one message I left for Ms. Vickie: and then was just rude and processed another customer while I stood at the desk waiting to pay my bill. It was very evident Carolyn had an attitude with me because I showed her the call history on my phone. I also noticed she slowly placed her headset on when I walked into the office complaining that no one was answering the phone all afternoon. Because no one answered eight (8) calls from me, I went to the office to obtain the status of my taxes. Ms. Vickie says, "We've been trying to reach you. Your taxes are ready." My husband and I looked at each other and wondered if we were in the Twilight Zone. We have NO calls from H&R Block regarding the status of our taxes. I uploaded and met with Ms. Vickie on 4/10; called and talked to Ms. Vickie to get a status on 4/14. Lesson Learned: If I return to this office, I will request Ms. Vickie and give her our documentation in March so she's not overwhelmed. As for the customer service of the receptionist, I will leave that up to the owner. There's also record of me reaching the H&R Block Call Center, because no one was answering the phone at the Upper Marlboro office. I can understand how busy they were on Tax Day, but lying to customers, and being unprofessional is not acceptable. As I told the receptionist, who was complaining about her job, "You picked this job. Just do your job." I guess Mr. Kay spoiled me because he would call or email me throughout the process to provide a status of our taxes.

Found out after the fact I was charged extra for being an out of state return, and then the next year this office was nice enough to automatically schedule me for another appointment against my will. Be careful when providing this company your private information. Will not be returning.

Vickie Leftwich was awesome and kept us engaged throughout the entire process. Alice, sorry that I didn't get her last name, was very helpful as well. Looking forward to seeing them again next year.
